Admission requirements vary based on the level of study. Here are the general criteria:
Undergraduate ProgramsFor Bachelor of Social Work (BSW):
o Applicants must have successfully completed Year 12 in Australia with a minimum ATAR of 65 for Social Work or hold an equivalent international qualification recognized for admission.
o English proficiency requirements of a minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0 overall, with no band below 7.0, or an equivalent qualification is required.
For Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) and Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship) (BBUS):
o Completion of Year 12 in Australia with a minimum ATAR of 60 or an equivalent international qualification is required.
o English proficiency requirements of a minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 overall, with no individual band score below 5.5, or an equivalent..
Postgraduate Programs
For Master of Social Work (MSW):
o The MSW requires a bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) with at least 8 units in social and behavioral sciences or an equivalent international qualification as per AASW standards.
o English proficiency requirements of minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 7.0, with no individual band below 7.0, or an equivalent qualification is required at the time of application.
For Master of Information Technology (MIT) and Master of Business Administrative (MBA):
o Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) from an accredited Australian institution or possess an internationally recognized equivalent qualification.
o English proficiency requirements of a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with at least 6.0 in writing, or an accepted equivalent.
Graduate Diploma
For Graduate Diploma in Human and Community Services (GDHCS):
o Applicants need a Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) or a Diploma/Associate Degree with three years of relevant experience, plus a 500-word statement on their interest in social work and community services.
o English proficiency requirements of IELTS overall 7 not less than 7 each band or equivalent.
For Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (GDIT) and Graduate Diploma in Business Administrative (GDBA):
o Applicants must have either a Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) in a related field or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a Bachelor Honours, Graduate Certificate, or Graduate Diploma (AQF Level 8 or higher) in a related field is also accepted.
o English proficiency requirements of a minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in writing, or an equivalent certification.
The University of Sydney Met offers a range of scholarships to help international students manage their tuition fees. Some key scholarships include:
· Scholarships for BSW, BIT, and BBUS– all students will be eligible for up to $15,000 scholarship per course.
· Scholarships for MBA and MIT – all students will be eligible for up to $10,000 scholarship per course.
· Scholarships for MSW – all students will be eligible for up to $5,000 scholarship per course.
